It’s National Ag Day! Today and every day, we are thankful for the Ag producers in our communities!
Did you know:
- There were 1.9 million farms and ranches in the US and 95% are family-owned and operated.
- The top three farm products in the US are cattle and calves, corn, and soybeans.
- A bushel of wheat can make about 42 commercial loaves of white bread, 210 servings of spaghetti, or 45 24-oz boxes of wheat flake cereal.
- On average, one US farm feeds approximately 169 people annually in the U.S. and abroad.
- On average, farmers and ranchers receive only 15 cents out of every retail dollar spent on food at home and away from home. The rest covers costs beyond the farm, such as wages and materials for production, processing, marketing, transportation, and distribution.
